The landing of the Geo Barents at the port of Civitavecchia marks the end of a rescue operation in the central Mediterranean. On board are men, women, and minors, including unaccompanied children, rescued at sea after days of navigation. Upon arrival, port authorities and humanitarian organizations coordinate assistance procedures, providing medical screening, first aid, food, and identification measures.
The port becomes a temporary space of transition, where emergency protocols intersect with individual trajectories shaped by displacement and survival. Attention to minors remains a central element of the reception process, reflecting both the logistical complexity and the human dimension of maritime rescue operations.
